Gigs, Gags, and Subculture Sweats in Glasgow
Wednesday night is for basement gigs, experimental cinema, and discovering your new favourite Scottish indie band before they blow up. Keep it cheap with local showcases at King Tut's or catch mid-week laughs at The Stand.
This weekend brings heavy warehouse bass to SWG3, legendary house selections to the Sub Club, and late-night cult classics to the GFT. Don't forget to nurse your Sunday hangover wandering the stalls at the Barras.

On a Wednesday, your best bets are checking out grassroots indie gigs at King Tut's or The Hug and Pint, catching experimental theatre at the Tron, or hitting The Stand for their cheap mid-week comedy showcases.
Wandering the Barras Market in the East End is a must-do free Sunday activity. You can also catch free contemporary art exhibitions at the CCA in the City Centre or Tramway in the Southside.
For emerging talent, King Tut's, Stereo, and Nice N Sleazy are the most reliable spots. For major touring acts, check who is playing the Barrowland Ballroom or SWG3.
Stereo, Mono, and Nice N Sleazy are ultra-inclusive daily staples. For late-night clubbing, check the listings at SWG3 and The Berkeley Suite, which host massive recurring queer parties.
The GFT offers excellent under-25 and student discounts. For live music, stick to local showcases at venues like The Hug and Pint which rarely top £10. The Stand's Wednesday showcases are also a steal at £6.
The Glasgow Subway shuts down infuriatingly early (around 11:30 PM, and 6:00 PM on Sundays!). If you're out late, rely on night buses, pre-booked private hires, or black cabs from designated city centre ranks.
